Yevgeny
Leonkovitch Gardietsky was born in 1924 in the town of Chimkent
on the border of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. He followed traditional
Uzbek training by attending Binkov Art School (1946-51) and then
the Ostrovsky Art Academy (1956-61).
In
1974 he was invited to work for a year with the great Maysenka
at the Repin Studio in Saint Petersburg.
Yevgeny
Leonkovitch believes that an artist must paint every day or his
ability slips away. He paints often at his dacha in the countryside
using soft, true colors that exist in nature. He is happiest at
his
dacha either painting or wine-making-using fruits he grows at home.
What could be better, some oils, some fruits and a little wine
in the
countryside?
